About

I think I’ve been trying to write a bio for this site for about a year.
For now, here goes:
- I’m Social Media Manager at the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills in the UK. In a nutshell, I advise on how social media can help the department to communicate and collaborate more effectively, and find opportunities to put in place the training, tools and guidance for civil servants in the department to use social media constructively.
- Previously, I worked in a digital agency - Reading Room - as a project manager, where I learned how the professionals build websites and worked with some real digital craftsmen.
- Before that, I spent several happy years at the Central Office of Information commissioning market research for government departments, and then advising on marketing strategy ranging from ethnic minority outreach to health and wellbeing at work
- I’ve also been: a market researcher at MORI, a student union sabbatical officer and an intern
- Outside of work, I run a micro-agency developing small websites for mainly voluntary organisations, a simple website offering free basic information about jobs in public sector organisations, and lead development on AskPeople, an open source survey/feedback tool
I’m married with a baby on the way, and live in South East London.
